Avon Lodge Vets Salisbury

Avon Lodge Vets Salisbury

Pet owners in Salisbury have a number of vets to choose from and one of the most popular is Avon Lodge Vets which we will discuss in this article. I should point out that this article refers to the Salisbury branch as they also have branches in Amesbury and Wilton.

I’m not exactly sure the history behind Avon Lodge Vets. On certain websites I’ve seen remarks that they have been caring for pets for over 50 years but their own website doesn’t seem to have a page that details their story or history.

Services Offered

Looking at their website it would seem that Avon Lodge Vets offers a very comprehensive set of pet services as follows:

  • Ultrasound & Endoscopy
  • Laboratory with full time technician
  • Home visit service
  • 15 minute consultatiions
  • Free Nurse and weight management clinics
  • K-Laser (laser therapy used to stimulate cells and speed up recovery post operation)
  • Digital X-Ray
  • Soft tissue surgery
  • Dedicated veterinary ambulance service
  • Dermatology referrals
  • Puppy classes

Avon Lodge Vets also have a few schemes to help customers budget pet healthcare costs. Their Pet Health Club aims to spread the cost of certain treatments by paying a monthly fee by direct debit. The plan includes annual vaccinations, treatments for flea, worms and ticks, health checks and discounts on discounts on neutering and microchipping. The exact cost and inclusions varies depending on whether you have a dog, cat or rabbit. As someone who is ex military I was also interested to see that they offer 12% discount on some services to British military personnel, namely annual vaccinations, neutering and your first consultation.

Avon Lodge Vets Opening Times & Address

When deciding which vet to register with most pet owners tend to look at those that are located closest to where they live. However those of us who work long hours will often pick a vet based on their opening hours. Whilst not a 24 hour vet, Avon Lodge Vets are open Saturday mornings so those who struggle to visit during their mid-week opening hours. The stated opening hours for the Salisbury branch are as follows:

The address and contact details for the Salisbury branch are:

It seems there is plenty of free parking at all 3 branches of Avon Lodge vets, and that’s certainly the case for the Salisbury branch as you can see from the image at the top of this article.

For out of hours care patients are referred to Vets Now who are located in Endless St, Salisbury a mile away (5 minute drive). Being out of hours the costs will be more expensive at Vets Now compared to Avon Lodge Vets. It should also be noted that if your pet requires overnight care whilst they are with Avon Lodge vets, they will be transferred to Vets Now Saturday lunchtime via their dedicated pet ambulance.

Avon Lodge Vets Reviews

When deciding which vet to register with, many new pet owners will seek out recommendations from other pet owners locally who they trust. Alternatively many pet owners will turn to online reviews to help in their decision making process. Looking at the Google reviews for Avon Lodge Vets, at the time of writing their rating was a very decent 4.6 out of 5 from a total of 182 reviews. Reading through the reviews most mention the level of care from the staff. A couple of the reviews mention that the prices are better than some other vets but then one of the few negative reviews refers to the high cost of treatment. It’s virtually impossible to find a vet that has no negative reviews though. I would also point out that Avon Lodge Vets are included as one of the best 3 vets in Salisbury on the Three Best Rated website.

I also noticed that Avon Lodge Vets don’t seem to reply to reviews that they receive on Google. Google always advise that companies should try and reply to reviews. However it can be a hard habit to get into when often people are busy with the day-to-day aspects of running a business.
